Financial Allocation €1,419,393.6

The Special Needs Assessment Study for Gozo has identified the need to develop niche tourism market such as scuba diving. The niche market is important for the Gozo tourism development.

The project aims to provide the necessary infrastructure to attract more scuba divers to Gozo. The main components of the project are:

1. Setting up of a hyperbaric facility and training personnel to run the facility
2. Procurement and scuttling a vessel at Xatt l-Aħmar to create a new artificial diving site.
3. Promotion of Gozo as an attractive diving destination internationally.
4. The drawing up of a masterplan in support of the sustainable development of the diving industry in Gozo

The project is being carried out by the Ministry for Gozo and is expected to be completed by December 2007.
