GĦAR IL-MIXTA
While not a distinguished site in itself, this cave in the cliffs on the west side of the plateau of Għajn Abdul, one of Gozo's flat-topped hills west of Santa Luċija and overlooking Dwejra, yielded a quantity of very early sherds of the Għar Dalam phase. Other caves nearby were destroyed by quarrying, though some more early sherds were recovered before they disappeared

Dr David Trump

USEFUL INFORMATION
How to go: From Victoria, take the southwest road to the village of Santa Luċija. From the village square proceed along Għajn Abdul Street (right of the church) and up Għar Ilma Hill. The site is on the northwest side of the Għajn Abdul plateau with which it is often confused. The plateau itself is easily recognisable from the white scar and gaping hole created by the modern hard stone quarry. A footpath running beneath the north lip of the plateau brings you right beneath Il-Mixta Caves.
