Extension of Centre for Arts & Crafts and Setting Up of Crafts Development Centre

Eu projects header

Project part-financed by the European Union
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
Cost of Project €782,086.20

The Extension of Centre for Arts & Crafts & Setting Up of Crafts Development Centre Project stems directly from the objectives of Priority 4 (Regional Distinctiveness – Gozo Special Needs) of the Single Programming Document.

It is envisaged that the project will create new vocational training and job opportunities in Gozo and thus help reduce the need to look for these opportunities on the sister Island of Malta.

The project will consist of the building of an extension and the provision new facilities to the existing Centre for Art & Crafts and the setting up of a Crafts Development Centre.

This will create more opportunities for those who want to further their vocational education in particular crafts and support to start up a business on the Island of Gozo.

The Crafts Development Centre will provide a work-place environment in eight workshops, which will be used by tenants for a contracted period of time.

A study on the setting up of structures for certification, authentication and marketing of local crafts will also be part of the project.
