SANTA VERNA TEMPLE
In the fields west of Sant’ Antnin chapel, south west of Xagħra, three blocks of stone stand on edge. A scatter of prehistoric sherds around suggests that they are the remains of a small temple, as was confirmed by excavation by Ashby and Bradley back in 1911. A further dig in 1961 showed that there had been a village on the site before the temple was built, as was also the case with several of the temples in Malta, Mġarr, Skorba and Kordin III

USEFUL INFORMATION
How to go: From Victoria, or at the Xewkija-Victoria traffic lights if you are coming from the Mgarr direction, follow signs to Xagħra. From the village square proceed along St. Anton Street (opposite parish church to the left) through a small piazza and straight on, then fork right to reach the end of the street. The remains can be reached by a path running NW.
