The ETC Gozo Courses and Schemes Project (ESF 27) stems directly from the objectives of the Regional Distinctiveness – Gozo Special Needs of the Single Programming Document.
The project consists of four activities and it fits within the Priority because it supports Human Resources Development, particularly addressing demand and supply mismatches of the Gozitan Labour Market with the intention of increasing the employment rate in Gozo. Human Resources Development is a recommended measure of the Gozo Special Needs Assessment Study on which the Priority Axis is based.
The Project will target mainly the unemployed. However it is open also for those who are already in employment and wish to upgrade their skills. The ages of participants may also vary, but nobody can participate in any activity below the age of 26. Small Businesses will also benefit, as one of the schemes is targeted to assist small businesses in drawing up a training plan. The following is a detailed description of each activity:
1. Graduate Scheme - The scheme will provide employment opportunities for unemployed graduates with Gozo’s SME’s. Through this scheme the participants will gain training and work experience. Financial Assistance will be given to the participant during his training and work experience.
2. Support Small Businesses - This initiative will help small businesses who does not employ more than 8 employees to identify their training needs in the field of ICT and consequently draw up a training plan for their organisation.
3. Foster Entrepreneurial Skills - This scheme, which is also combined with a training course, will provide the necessary stimulus for those unemployed who wish to set up their own business. Following a course, they will be assisted in the drawing up of a Business Plan which will be approved by a competent body.
4. Customer Service Training Courses - Unemployed who would like to acquire new skills to improve their job prospects. People already in employment who may wish to upgrade their skills to improve their employability may also attend.
